Areas We Serve

Contractor Marketing in Dallas-Fort Worth

The National Weather Service's Fort Worth office puts it plainly: "Large hail, damaging winds, flooding, and tornadoes occur nearly every year in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex" (NWS). That one sentence explains a lot of the roofing, fencing and restoration work in North Texas.

We're based in Austin, and we don't have DFW clients yet. What we can give you is what we've learned about this market, and how we'd market a trade business in it.

Hail Sets the Rhythm of the Year

North Texas hail has a long track record. The Mayfest storm of May 1995 dropped softball-size hail and caused about $2 billion in damage across Tarrant and Dallas counties (NWS). The spring 2016 storms caused more than $4 billion in damage, mostly in the DFW area, according to Insurance Council of Texas figures (Insurance Journal). And the NWS Fort Worth area averages about 26 tornadoes a year (NWS).

Insurers feel it in roofs. The Insurance Council of Texas has called roof replacement, at $20,000 to $30,000 a roof, insurers' main risk in North Texas (NBC 5 DFW). For roofing, fencing and restoration companies, that means storm campaigns and landing pages need to be ready before spring, when the NWS says severe weather peaks, not built after the first storm. Our weather aggregation tools adjust ad spend automatically as conditions change.

The 2021 Freeze and the Summer Heat

Winter Storm Uri held DFW at or below freezing for 139 straight hours (NWS). Insured losses reached about $1.43 billion in Dallas County alone, second-highest in Texas, with Tarrant at $870 million and Collin at $650 million, and the Texas Department of Insurance listed freezing pipes among the causes (TDI). By February 17, Dallas Water Utilities had already responded to more than 1,000 burst pipes (CultureMap). See plumbing marketing.

Summers keep HVAC companies busy too. DFW logged 55 days at or above 100°F in 2023, the fourth-most on record, and 2026 had already reached 52 by the time we checked (NWS).

Growth Is Happening on the Edges

The DFW metro grew by about 123,600 people in 2025, second only to Houston, to nearly 8.5 million (US Census Bureau). The growth is uneven. Collin County added about 43,000 residents, the second-largest gain of any US county, and Kaufman County grew 5.7% in a single year, third-fastest in the country, while Dallas County itself shrank slightly (Census estimates).

Builders followed. DFW permitted more total housing units than any US metro in 2024, about 72,000 (Census building permits), and stayed in the top two in 2025. Our read: new subdivisions on the outer ring generate work for fencing, concrete and custom home builders, while the older housing closer in leans toward remodeling and foundation repair.

Every City Has Its Own Paperwork

DFW isn't one jurisdiction. The North Central Texas Council of Governments has more than 230 member governments, and each city adopts its own building codes (NCTCOG). Contractor rules vary city to city.

Dallas requires registration for general contractors and for roof, fence, foundation, concrete, landscape and pool contractors, and an unregistered contractor "may not obtain any permit" (City of Dallas). Fort Worth requires a registration on file for anyone pulling a building, mechanical, plumbing or electrical permit, and state licenses for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades (City of Fort Worth).

For marketing, that's an opportunity. Showing your registration for each city you actually work in is a trust signal most competitors skip, and it's a natural, honest reason to have a page about your work in Plano or Arlington: you're registered there and you have jobs to show.

How We'd Approach Dallas-Fort Worth

  1. One strong Business Profile per real location. Map results depend partly on distance from the searcher (Google), so a single listing can't cover the whole Metroplex. It ranks best around its own address.
  2. City pages only where you're registered and working, with real projects from each. That's how we build SEO websites.
  3. [Google Ads](/services/ppc-management) set up before storm season, targeted by county, with separate emergency and planned-work campaigns.
  4. One dashboard for calls, forms, lead quality and cost per lead across every city you serve.

Ads can produce calls in the first week; SEO usually takes 60 to 90 days to show meaningful ranking gains. Plans start with a 6-month commitment, then go month to month. Our clearest Texas results so far are on our Houston page.
